Rooted in her upbringing in Northern England and shaped by a life across borders and languages, Rachel’s practice explores themes of memory, heritage, womanhood, and the fragile ways we record and reconstruct histories.

Her artistic path represents a deliberate evolution from a two-decade career as a journalist and digital news executive for organizations including the BBC, CBC, and Microsoft. Moving away from the external lens of news media, Rachel turns her practice inwards, using photography to investigate subjective experience and the fluid nature of memory.

Rachel’s work has been exhibited internationally, including a featured solo exhibition at the Head On Photo Festival in Sydney, Australia, and a two-person show at Gallery 881 in Vancouver. She is a four-time category winner at the Julia Margaret Cameron Awards, and a 2025 finalist for the Sony Alpha Female Award, amongst other accolades.

Extending her commitment to women’s perspectives in visual storytelling, Rachel serves on the committee of the Royal Photographic Society Women in Photography group and volunteers as the Editor of its twice-yearly publication, WE ARE Magazine. In 2026, the magazine received an honourable mention from the International Photography Awards in the Self-Published Book category.

Rachel holds a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Modern Languages and Literature from the University of Oxford and graduated with honours from the professional photography program at VanArts in Vancouver.
