Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Maggie Victoria

I received great news from Barcelona and the Julia Margaret Cameron Awards! My series The Garden of Maggie Victoria is the winner of the Women Seen by Women category in the 20th edition of these prestigious awards.

The series, which honours and revives the legacy of my great-grandmother, was also awarded three honourable mentions in the Fine Art, Storytelling, and Digital Manipulation & Collage categories (non-pro).

I extend deep thanks to the jurors Elizabeth Avedon (chair), Ann Jastrab and Elizabeth Krist for their expertise, time and recognition.

I also received five honourable mentions for three single images that I submitted to this anniversary edition of the awards. An image from my series A Song Yet To Be Sung received honourable mentions in Fine Art and Self-Portrait; my urban still life After the Rain was awarded an honourable mention in the Abstract & Still Life and Open Theme categories; and Room with a View, an image looking across the rooftops of the old town in Bordeaux, received an honourable mention in Cityscapes.

The Julia Margaret Cameron Awards are special to me as they recognize the work of women photographers around the world. I've previously had the honour of winning twice in the Abstract category.

The exhibition for award winners will take place in April 2024 at the beautiful FotoNostrum gallery in Barcelona, where I've been privileged to show my work in the past.
