International recognition for WE ARE Magazine
WE ARE Magazine received an honourable mention in the Book - Self-Published category (Professional).
I'm thrilled that WE ARE Magazine from the RPS Women in Photography Group has received an honourable mention at the International Photography Awards.
The 248-page April 2026 issue was recognized in the IPA’s Professional, Book – Self-Published category. The awarded issue unites a global collective of female photographers — from students to professionals — across fine art, documentary, portraiture and more. Highlights include the "40% Project" to document UK women MPs, alongside explorations of historic events, environmental jeopardy, and the weight of illness. You’ll also find celebrations of identity and the rediscovery of the self, plus realities such as photographers' financial precarity.
Every six months, the magazine showcases the brilliant work and perspectives of women photographers around the world.
It takes a lot to make a magazine like WE ARE come to life. It’s made possible by the dedication, vision, and sharp eyes of an all-volunteer team, which I'm proud to lead as editor. Here they are:
Designer — Liz Benjamin: Transforms text and imagery into beautiful and impactful visual layouts, shaping the aesthetic and flow of the entire issue.
Contributing Editor — Frankie MacEachen: Interviews our contributors for key profiles and refines our collaborative pieces.
Copy Editors — Miranda Gavin & Victoria Medina: Work one-on-one with our feature contributors to shape their stories, ensuring every piece speaks clearly to our readers and showcases their work in its best light. (They’re joined in the forthcoming October issue by Sarah Chandy.)
Proofreaders — Isabelle Desgranges, Dr Jane Robb, & Victoria Robb: Our final eyes on the magazine, scrutinizing every detail, caption, and page for total precision before we press publish.
Thank you to all of the volunteers and contributors for your talent and commitment.
